Aisha Akram is a 24 year old poet and spoken word artist who lives in Manchester, England. As a Lesbian Muslim woman, she writes a lot about her identity and how she navigates this, but also about social justice issues and issues considered taboo.

Their debut collection ‘the cards i have been dealt’ is a testament to the many different aspects of her life that have played a role in shaping her identity, whether they were difficult or empowering aspects. It explores how these have played out and the impact they have had. Notably, the chapters touch on 6 specific cards: Judgement, The Hierophant, Five of Cups, Justice in Reverse, The Lovers and Death, which all have a different meaning that is explored through poetry.
